Losing captain Faf du Plessis said:

“I think the batting was really good. Catch towards the end. Odeon Smith scored 25 runs in 8 balls. I think we probably dropped him at 10. After that, we see some tailenders coming in. The cliché of the catch wins the clocks. There was a bit of dew, a tough night for the bowlers, but I thought they were pretty good with the wet ball. Small margin, but he chased it really well. He had a really good powerplay. The ball skidded a little more in the second innings and then we pulled it back beautifully. We did a lot of good things in between. But you know what Odeon Smith can do to you. So you have to grab those opportunities. Even the other player, Shah Rukh Khan, did not do wonders till the last two balls tonight. So a completely different game if you hold on to those chances. I’m tired! She’s going first innings, oh (smiling). I’m glad I got away without hurting myself because I spent so much time diving on my elbows. It was difficult to start with the bat today. The ball was swinging in the first four overs, I think I was scoring 1 out of 10. It’s a bit difficult to hold the bat but it feels good to cross it.”

Winning captain Mayank Agarwal said:

“Two points are very important for us. Good wicket. Very good wicket, as both sides scored over 200 runs. A ball or two stopped but nothing else. Credit for the way we finished. We took the right chances and I am glad it was successful. I think we gave them 15-20 more. Virat and Faf took the game away from us but the credit for chasing it goes to our batsmen. We believe in our skills. It doesn’t stop, it doesn’t come but we’re not going to panic and make a scene out of it”.

Player of the Match Odeon Smith said:

“We were looking to get off to a good start. We just needed that faith. Didn’t go so well with bowling. I have to work on some things. The batting was good as I helped my team to win. It was all about execution and I couldn’t and so it got screwed. Punjab have not won the title yet but we need faith. We saw ’14 peaks’, 13 remained for us.”
