Million Dollar WordPress Pages, an Experiment

So many ideas, so many. If you’re anything like me, this can be overwhelming. Sure, having ideas is great, but implementing them? Hell, this is hard work. That said, I thought I’d share my latest little project with you.

My million dollar wordpress page, Of course ridiculers will for sure, and some will say that this has been done before, and I welcome both responses.

Yes, yes this has been done before, am I introducing something new? No.

Sounds blunt, sure, but I wanted to see if I could make my own version of a million dollar homepage using WordPress. After much deliberation and hard work (pat myself on the back), I’ve managed to create a version.

Although without a million pixels for ads, but the premise is the same. It’s a little fun and hopefully it will fly. For this particular project, I had my work cut out.

I’ll briefly explain what I used and why.

equipment and what not

first i switched ElementorBy the way, the Pro version. I’m a big fan of Gutenberg, make no mistake, but for what I wanted to do, and for the future of the site, it made sense to me.

I’m not a coder, so if there’s a tool or system I can use to quickly build something and add the functionality I need, I’m going to use it.

It doesn’t end there though last year I bought krokoblockAnd I will honestly say the suite of plugins is nothing short of breath taking, really fantastic, the team behind it deserve all the praise they can get!

where was i?

OK, back on track. using the krokoblocki used them jet engine Plugin, which adds customs post types, taxonomies, and more. I could go on and on about it, but I’ll keep it short.

I’ve created a custom post type to contain images for the Million Dollar page, along with a link to point to the advertiser’s website.

Next, I’ve used another excellent addition by the Crocoblock team called Free Plugin jetgridbuilder, Using this plugin, I’m able to create a custom grid for listing advertisers, in fact I can place them wherever I choose, which is awesome!

using the fluent form (again another excellent plugin) I have created a form that will take payment and create a post.

Makes my life a lot easier. And I’m all about making things easier for myself and potential advertisers!

I can go to town later, and show you how I did it. But I’ll be honest, making a million dollar page was hard work and a written tutorial just couldn’t cut it, so it might be a video if I ever get the time.

For now, you can see Million Dollar WordPress Page Here, I have more projects on the go, and I’ll definitely let you know as soon as I have a platform to share them.

Update: 7 March 2021

It only makes sense to update this post with progress, rather than adding another post, to make it easier for you and me to keep track. OK, so it’s been a week since I started experimenting, it goes like this:

  • Total Ad Slots Sold: 18 (Sweet!)
  • Total number of visits to the page so far: 292 (doesn’t seem like a lot, but for me it is)

I use fathom analytics, for tracking, here is a screenshot of the traffic from March 1:

progress so far

As you can see, not too shabby! And what happened? Well, got up this morning to make a mention WPWeekly WordPress NewsletterWhich by chance bought a slot on the Million Dollar WordPress page.

In terms of traffic, Twitter has been the major primary driver, but I’m seeing a gradual increase in traffic from other routes as well. So far, so good. It’s actually getting better than I thought.

Sure it’s just an experiment, but for me, it’s an exciting one, join me next time I do another round up! Also, many thanks to everyone who took the time to include an old idiot.
